    Reminders & New Parent Info

    Hello everyone,

Our 1st Timed Trial of the season is this Saturday. Coach will send out that information tonight or tomorrow, but I wanted to send out some new parent info regarding swimmers and volunteers. Also, we need 1 more timer for 2nd shift, so I opened that back up.

    Suggestions:

Bring a bag chair / canopy. We try to keep the bleachers as come-and-go seating, so that you can watch your swimmer and move along, giving a chance to another parent to see their swimmer. You can bring camp chairs to set up in the hallways, making sure to keep a walking path available. Since we are limited with space, we encourage parents to bring canopies / blankets / chairs to set up outside (on the SE side of BBAC). We have a speaker system to help us call out which events should be at the ready benches. Timed Trials run much quicker than dual meets, so keep your ears open!

Bring a marker. If you are new to competitive swimming, ask a returning swim family to show you how to “get marked.” Marking the kids arms (or legs, depending on how many events they swim in a meet) helps kids remember what they are swimming and also helps the ready bench volunteers place swimmers correctly. (R = race / event; H = heat; L = lane). An example:

Officials. 1st & 2nd shift officials will meet @ 8am in the hallway near the locker rooms.

Timer’s Meeting. 1st & 2nd shift volunteers should meet in the hallway near the locker rooms @ 8am. Officials will give a brief explanation & go over any questions.

Ready Bench Check-in. 1st & 2nd shift volunteers should meet at the ready benches (hallway between competition & therapy pools) @ 8:15am to check in.

Computers Check-in. 1st & 2nd shift computer volunteers can check in at the computer table at 8:20am.

We have a lot of new swim families this year. If you have a question, please ask someone that looks like they know what they’re doing. 🙂 All officials will be in white shirts & blue shorts / pants, but we have lots of returning swim parents that can give advice as well! Also, I’ve attached the flyer for the Swimtopia app.
