    1st Week

    Parents,

I'm looking forward to starting a new season and another opportunity at the Division title.  This year is different than any other year as we are returning as the reigning champs for our division.   At this point, we have reached our limit of 200 swimmers.  Like every year, there are a lot of new faces, and with that comes certain challenges. This year Advance is from 4:00-4:45, Intermediate is from 4:45-5:30, and Beginners are from 5:30-6:00.

I wanted to make everyone aware that the first week of practice is our craziest time, especially for the Beginner group. As coaches, we are busy getting the right size fins on each swimmer (if needed), trying to figure out what lane they should be in, which group they should be in, how to circle swim, how to use the kickboard, comforting the little ones that are nervous, and so on. I ask that you be patient with each of the coaches, and if you have any questions please try to wait until after the practice or email me. This first week, and especially the first couple of days of practice, most of our time is spent getting these kids in the right place at the right time before we even get in the water. After the first couple of weeks, we will have these kids going up and down the pool and hopefully having fun and getting better in the process.

I want to mention to the parents about allowing the coaches to coach and not trying to coach from the bleachers or from the pool deck. We do have plenty of seating around the deck and in the hallways. Also, we need your help in making sure that our team is not leaving a mess in the hallways or locker room areas, and that we do not have kids running around in the hallways.

As I mentioned earlier, be patient with the process, it's the same every year, but by the end of the season, I think and hope you will be pleased with how much your child has improved with their swimming.
